French Bread

French Bread

Step 1:
5 tablespoons yeast
2 tablespoons sugar

dissolve in 1 cup of warm water

Step 2:
2 tablespoons salt
1/2 cup sugar
16 cups flour

mix in bowl and make a "well" in the center of the dry ingredients

Step 3:
5 cups warm water
1/2 cup oil

Put liquid into the well and mix dough well, then knead until smooth.  Let sit in large bowl.

Step 4:
Punch dough down every 10 minutes for 1 hour.

Step 5:
Separate into 3 parts and knead just until smooth.  Shape into 3 loaves, split top and butter.

Step 6:
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
